How to- One minute read

While we are busy maintaining our skin care and health regime, it’s easy to ignore our feet. At NESS we strongly believe in “Healthy feet happy heart”. Our feet also need a day off just to breathe.

Spending time on foot care and choosing the right shoes can keep you away from feet related problems. When a foot-spa treatment is one way to go, there are other low cost and easy home remedies for the same.

1- The pampered foot soak: While this is the most basic essential foot-care regime, it is the most ignored step. First soak your feet in warm water and liquid soap containing skin softeners. This will help open up your pores to clear trapped dirt. Wash your feet especially between your toes regularly. Wipe your feet dry to moisturise your feet with regular lotions or creams.

2- Smooth out the rough patches: Trim your toe nails regularly to avoid fungus of any kind. Make it a daily habit to use a pumice stone or foot file on damp heels to smoothen and avoid cracked heels.

Troubled with cracked heels? Here’s a simple home remedy:-
You will need: 3 tablespoons of ground rice, 1 tablespoon of honey, 3 drops of apple cider vinegar.
How to use: Mix the ingredients together to form a thick paste and apply on the cracked areas for 10 minutes. For extreme cases of cracked heels you can even add a teaspoon of olive oil for 15 minutes.

3- Alternating shoes: We know how much you love wearing your favourite pair regularly, but what you don’t know is wearing the same pair everyday can lead to foot odour and infections. To avoid triggering this, alternate between your footwear, sundry the other pair, walk barefoot at home, wear open slippers to give your feet the much needed break.

4- Right size of footwear: Choosing the correct size of footwear plays a very important role for healthy feet. We tend to get mesmerised by a beautiful pair and purchase it even though it’s not a proper fit. Wearing the wrong size can lead to bunions, corns, ingrown toenails or even toes that cross over each other.
Shoe Shopper Pro TIP: Shop for shoes in the afternoon. Your feet swell as the day goes by, and if the shoe fits you in the afternoon when your feet are at its largest, you can be assured they will always be comfortable.

Hope these ideas help your feet feel great. Let us know in the comments section below if these remedies helped your feet.

With each step we take our feet are at hard work. So a good foot care routine should be a part of our plan of overall health and wellness. And always remember, Healthy foot care extends beyond appearances or a fresh coat of nail polish.”
